AW
Mr.Daniel Cunningham
RE:North Weld Gravel Pit,M-1976-018,Amendment 01,Adequacy Review Comments
March 9, 2021
Rule 6.4.5 Exhibit E-Reclamation Plan
3. C&H Aggregates will utilize and/or sell the overburden material, so therefore now
proposes to replace only the topsoil during reclamation. The April 11, 2008 geotechnical
engineer report attached to the original DRMS amendment application makes no
distinction between the topsoil and overburden layer. According to the USDA web soil
survey, at this mining site the first horizon of loamy soil is 6 to 12 inches deep, which is
assumed to be the topsoil at this location. C&H Aggregates will stogy'-bile and replace this
topsoil layer during reclamation.
Rule 6.4.12 Exhibit L-Reclamation Cost
4. C&H Aggregates no longer intends to replace 5 to 6 feet of overburden for reclamation but
will instead replace only the upper 6 to 12 inch topsoil layer (which is already accounted
for in the reclamation cost estimate). As such, the anticipated reclamation costs remain the
same as they were calculated and presented in Exhibit L of the North Gravel Pit Expansion
Application.
Conclusion
This concludes our response to your adequacy review from February 19, 2021.
