In AM-5,the operator proposes disposing of contaminated alluvial soils in <br /> the Black Forest Mine. The Division is currently reviewing AM-5, and expects to issue a preliminary adequacy <br /> review letter within the next week. The current decision date for AM-5 is set for December 9, 2020. <br /> The Division did not visit the top of the mesa during the inspection,where the water treatment plant and <br /> wetland and biochemical reactor(BCR)pilot-scale study operate. The operator informed the Division water was <br /> cut off for the wetland study and it is currently undergoing evaporation trials. The small greenhouse has been <br /> re-constructed around the BCRs to protect them during winter. The operator has plans to increase the scale of <br /> the wetland/BCR study over next spring/summer, and will submit these plans to the Division through an <br /> upcoming Technical Revision. The operator has installed a new pump at Sump#1 to route any water collected <br /> in this sump to the water treatment plant for water quality sampling and treatment. All other sumps have been <br /> taken offline and will be removed during the alluvial excavation project.
