Colorado Quarries, Inc.
270 S. 15th Street
Canon City, CO 81212
February 28, 2021
Tim Cazier
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
Re: Mica Lode, Permit M-1977-144, Request for Technical Revision, and Problem Correction
Dear Mr. Cazier,
In the report of your February 13, 2020 inspection of the above-named site, you noted a problem whose
corrective action is to submit a Technical Revision (TR)addressing the inadequacies with the affected
area boundaries and the mining and reclamation plans.
This TR is being submitted in order to update the permit's Mining Plan Map, Mining Plan, Reclamation
Plan, and Reclamation Plan Map, which correspond to Exhibits C, D, E, and F, respectively. Since the
intent of this TR is to also correct the outstanding problem, attention was paid to addressing all of the
specific issues identified in the inspection report and spreadsheet.
In addition to the above-named revised exhibits, another permit update included in this revision is the
updated reclamation costs, which are are appended to this TR request under Revised Exhibit L.
The Mica Lode is a 112c permit composed of a set of areas in which a variety of different activities is
carried out, including extraction, processing, stockpiling, disposal of reject materials, storage of
explosives, and haulage/roadways. These areas are all delineated and labeled on the revised maps
included in this packet. All mining and reclamation activities are described in the revised exhibits.
The revised maps show the 46.00-acre permit boundary, as well as the boundaries of the different
affected areas, which comprise a combined total of 35.00 acres. There are several portions of the
permit which have no mining-related disturbance yet, but which are included in some of the affected
areas, since they are being considered for possible future activities. There are several other areas where
there is no mining-related disturbance, and in which no disturbance is planned; these have a combined
total of 8.90 acres. Finally, the area occupied by Road 383E is 2.10 acres;this is a pre-existing road
which passes through the permit, which we use and maintain, but will remain as a permanent road. We
have retained the names of the separate affected areas used earlier in permit documents, to avoid
confusion. All permit-related activities and disturbances are fully contained within the affected area
boundaries.
Please see the attached revised exhibits for the full details.
