Box 25486, DFC (MS65412) <br />Denver, CO 80225-0486 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1996-084) <br /> Technical Revision No. 21 (TR-21) <br /> TR-21 <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Mr. DeBerry: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 22, 2021 <br />an application to revise coal mining operations at the Lorencito Canyon Mine was considered <br />complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by New Elk Coal Company, LLC. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date <br />of filing. <br /> <br />Adds a drill locations within the Lorencito Permit Area. Also, addresses outstanding issues from <br />Midterm Review-05. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the <br />area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles West of Segundo on <br />Hwy 12. The permit area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />Lands south of the Middle Fork of the Purgatorie River, lands east of Cow Canyon, lands north of <br />the Puertecito Canyon, and lands west of Lorencito Canyon, covering approximately 3,142 acres. <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle <br />map(s): Little Pine Canyon. <br />
