Toner Ranch Pit
Original ground surface
Approximate grade while mining, w/berm (soil)
Green: final reclaimed grades (between 2:1 and 3:1)
11
West Access road
permit Cross-section (W to E)
bdry Not to scale
drawn by NABarton NOV 2020
Figure C-1. Cross-Section along centerline of Toner Ranch Pit (access road)
k. At some point, relocate the storage/truck-loading area and work area (plant site)to the floor of
the pit, to allow mining of the area where these were initially located and to reduce haul
distances. Locate the processing plant(s) only intermittently on the Permit area, to produce
finished products, with the plant(s) likely in a different location within the permit area each
time. Regrade access road as necessary at that time.
I. As mining is completed and final grade is achieved on the southwestern edge of the permit area,
place soil stripped from the next areas to be mined on the slopes and floor of the pit and seed
(see Exhibit D).
m. After mining the southern and central portions of the permit area, strip and mine the northern
portion of the permit area. (See map, Exhibit E).
4. Scheduling and production (6.3.3.(a)): Commence mining in the Spring of 2021 (anticipated), once
snow is gone and ground is capable of supporting equipment.
a. End mining (and sales of products from stockpiles on the permit area) in about 10 years,
completed by the Fall of 2031, assuming demand will be sufficient. Length may range from 4-9
years.
b. STATEMENT OF INTERMITTENT OPERATION: The operator may, due to demand, weather and
elevation, be unable to use the affected lands for at least one hundred eighty days per year, but
anticipate operating (excavation, processing, shipping) within one year of any temporary
cessation of operations, and materials will remain stockpiled on the permit area.
c. Up to 217,800 cubic yards (326,700 tons) of reserves, approximately 36,300 tons/acre, or
average shipping of 33,000 tons/year if 10 years, or 47,000 tons/year if 7 years' duration.
(Generally, about 50,000 tons will be processed each time the portable plant is on-site, unless
demand is great enough to require more.)This is based on known information/depth estimates.
d. The landowner is anticipated to request that small quantities of processed construction
materials may be left on the permit area at the end of mining, for their own use on the property
and contiguous property. This is not expected to require more than 0.25 acres and will be
approved by landowner when submitting for final reclamation release.
5. Soil/Plant growth medium (6.3.3.(b)):As stated in Exhibit B,4-5 inches of soil (A horizon) will be
stripped and stockpiled in berms, primarily at locations shown in Exhibit E map, or moved directly to
previously affected and graded areas for reapplication.
a. Salvage an estimated 650 CY (in-place) soil from each acre. It is very likely that soils must be
screened to remove larger stones, before stockpiling or reapplication, resulting in only 600 CY
salvaged soil.
Toner Ranch Pit 110c Application Exhibits Page 6 of 20
