6.4.4(e)
Mining will be completed based on market conditions over up to five phases. Mining will begin
with initial opening and the creation of the site processing area as Phase 1, followed by mining
Phase 2 —the west extent of the quarry and development of the realigned CCP, and mining Phase
3 —the east extent of the site which further develops the Phase 1 area. Phases 4 and 5 will be
mined if a post-mine reservoir is planned. Phases may be mined out of numerical order. Phase 3
mining may occur concurrently with other mining phases. Map C-2 shows the initial mining plan
with projected phasing and F-1 features the Reclamation plan.
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming mined-out areas as new
mining phases become active. Note: if large contracts are awarded to the site, production could
increase and reduce the life of the quarry. Conversely, if contracts are less than anticipated, the
life of the quarry could be extended.
Approximate projected acreage, anticipated recoverable tons, duration of mining, and WRL
acreages are shown in Table D-1 for each phase. To calculate anticipated recovered tons, a
mining rate of one-million tons per year was used for Pre-mining/Opening and Phase 1
approximations. While for Phases 2—5, including bedrock and gravel mining, a rate of three-
million mined tons per year was used to approximate the duration of mining.
6.4.4(e)(i)
See Table D-1.
6.4.4(e)(ii)
See Table D-1.
6.4.4(fl(i)
Metamorphic rock blasting and mining will reach a depth of approximately 7,850-foot elevation.
This is below the pre-mine ground surface even if Phases 4 and 5 are not mined(Map C-5). If a
reservoir is chosen and/or Phases 4 and 5 are mined, the western half of the quarry will be mined
to an elevation of approximately 7,535 feet while the eastern half of the quarry will be mined to
Young Ranch Resource .,., .. ,,.«,,_V11.<
February 2020 D-15
