The proposed mill will impact approximately four acres and
is designed to operate inside an industrial grade metal building.
Colorado's history is rich with precious metal discoveries, mining and milling.
As early as 1848, gold was found near Lake City, CO by a member of John C.
Fremont's mapping team (Henderson, 1926). Gold was discovered along South
Clear Creek, near Idaho Springs, in 1859 by George A. Jackson (Henderson, 1926).
Along with the economic benefits of mining came mining industry artifacts including
workings and spoils piles.
In US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Record of Decision for the
Central City/Clear Creek Superfund Site Operable Unit 4 published in 2004, one of
the major components of the remedy included removal of mine waste piles. The
Gladstone Toll Mill provides an alternative to accomplish the desired remediation of
material that isn't acid-forming or hazardous material. (US Environmental Protection
Agency, 2004)
The Gladstone Toll Mill (GTM) is an opportunity to recover precious metals
from these artifacts, left behind only because of the limited understanding of
geology, geochemistry, metallurgy and limitations of equipment of the time. GTM
will be operated by Salisbury Gladstone LLC doing business as New Erra Inc. (New
Environmental Remediation Reclamation Agency). New Erra Inc (NEI) is committed
to providing state-of-the-art remediation services that will improve and restore
Page I of 21
