Mining Plan
The mining plan for this pit will be done in phases. The first phase of the mining plan will be as follows,
dewatering trench will be dug on the eastern side of the pit. This trench will be dug three feet below the
bottom of the pit floor. The trench will dug along the eastern edge and then across the back side of the
pit and tied in to a sediment basin that will be in place per the dewatering permit.Once this is in place
the dewatering operation will be in place 3 to 4 weeks prior to any mining operations take place to
lower the current water table below the mining operation.
The existing topsoil will be striped and used for the required berms along the front of the property.
These berms will be placed in a 25'set back area from the property line. These berms will be roughly 8'
foot in height and 18'wide at the bottom. This will also us to expose the existing gravel for the mining
operation.
Mining operations will take place in 5 phases. The first phase of the operation will be setting the
crusher at the current grade and mining the material out to the lowest elevation of the gravel. Once this
area is mined out the crusher in phase two will be set on the floor of the pit. This is phase two of the
operation. Once the crusher is set in the bottom of the pit it will stay their and be moved to each phase
after that to minimize the noise and dust from this operation. All stockpiling of material at this point will
also be done at this level. Each phase after that will follow this method thru out the mining process of
this pit.
As each phase of the mining operations is completed Scott Contracting will reclaim the current area.
This will be done with the following process. The topsoil that is striped from the adjoining phase will be
striped and placed along the slopes to achieve the finial configuration as shown in the documents. This
material will be placed with haul trucks and a dozer. Once placement is completed,we will then seed
this area for stabilization per the reclamation plan.
This process will be done as stated as each phase of mining is completed and the operation moves to
the next phase of excavation.
