C O O R
MiningandSafety
1313 Ike iru°n a ire Stireet, IRoorn 215
Denver,CoMoirado 80203
January 25, 2021
Glenn and Gale Sanger
PO Box 385
Morrison CO 80465
Re: Aggregate Industries; Morrison Quarry M1973-021;AM07 Comment Letter Received by DRMS
Mr./Ms. Sanger,
On January 21, 2021 the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division/DRMS) received your
comment letter for Amendment 07 (AM07) to the Morrison Quarry reclamation permit, M2020-041.
Your submittal was received by the Division outside of the public comment period for this application
which ran from December 10, 2020 to January 20, 2020. However, DRMS has reviewed your letter, will
include it in the public file, and forward it to the applicant so they are aware of your concerns as
adjacent landowners.
Although you will not be a party to the application process, I wanted to let you know that the
permittee is responsible for maintaining compliance with their approved storm water permit as it was
issued by CDPHE, and minimizing or eliminating any associated off-site erosion.
DRMS is also aware of the concern surrounding the potential exposure of groundwater at the site, and
will be addressing this issue during the amendment review process. The Construction Materials rule
requires operators to minimize any impacts to quantity and quality of the prevailing hydrologic
balance. If the operator plans to expose groundwater, they will first need to obtain the appropriate
permits from the State Engineer's Office - Division of Water Resources, and also demonstrate how long
term groundwater exposure will be addressed in the reclamation plan.
Sincerely,
Eric Scott
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Michael Cunningham; DRMS
1313 Sheirirnain Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 IF 303.832.8106 Ih-L-LIp w//ire-i in-i in .s,L ,'L . m us 0% Ck
it d IPo Us, Governor Dain Gibbs,11 s, Executive I[A it c it Virginia Brannon, ID-it toit
4 q
