The presence of solids in the slurry <br />will result in a slight increase in the water level when one examines the <br />overall mass balance. Assuming pumpage of 3.69 x 10' gallons in the <br />first year, solids levels would amount to 1.65 feet. In the first year <br />of operation, while the water level is at approximately 70651, the slurry <br />will intersect mains amounting to 286 acres. At 60% extraction, this <br />provides for water storage of 172 acres. The following calculations <br />assume that the slurry is 34% solids by volume, and that the slurry will <br />be restricted to the 172 acres of mains. <br />3.69 x 108 gallons x 1 acne -feet x 34 % solids = 384.8 acre -feet <br />3.26 x 105 gallons <br />384.8 acre -feet <br />172 acres <br />= 2.24 feet maximum elevation rise from solids in first year <br />The water level would also increase due to water inflows into the <br />mine. This has been estimated at 177 gpm in the mains. This is <br />equivalent to 0.78 acft/day or 284.7 acft/year. Assuming in the worst <br />case that the area of flooding would remain within the 172 acres, mine <br />inflow water levels would rise 1.68 ft/year. <br />284.7 acft / 172 acnes = 1.65 ft/year <br />year <br />The slurry recycling project will last five years. At that time, <br />there will be 1.03 x 109 gallons (3161 acre-feet) of water from original <br />sources within the flooded workings of which all will be derived from the <br />liquid component of the thickener solution. At 7460' over seventy-five <br />percent of the mine workings are below this elevation level, or <br />approximately 3446 acres.
