cost to be compliant for MSHA secondary exit purposes. We have no intent to use the portal for
operations other than a secondary exit for safety. A secondary pass-through barrier will be
installed to prevent bats from entering this newly cleared area until all mining operations have
ceased. Then the barrier will be removed to allow for a very large new bat environment.
Connector Project Area Usage: 0.05 acres, which break down to...
Area of Disturbance=0.036
Trail/Travel =0.014
The Area of Disturbance for this project is 0.036 acres, which will be split into working/stabilized area
and soil storage. We have not intent of replacing soil over stabilized area above the portal other than
some topsoil for seeds as needed.
It is during this phase that we will be using the largest total disturbance.
Ridgetop=0.12 acres
Connector=0.05 acres
PERMIT Total =0.17 acres
Phase 4
Phase Four consists of 2 project areas.
1) Ridgetop Project Area:
Ridgetop area of disturbance will be reduced to only what is needed for the underground operation. All
unused areas will be backfilled and graded to final contours. Topsoil will be added from the storage into
some areas to allow reseeding. Focus will be put on preventing any future UUD from weather.
2)Connector Project Area:
This area will be reclaimed and reseeded except for a small 0.001 acre area around the Connector
Portal.
During reseeding, we intend to reseed the 0.014 acre area west of the Connector Project area. It is a
pre-existing disturbance and would allow better reclamation of Connector Project Area by preventing
UUD from weather.
Total Area to be reseeded in this phase=0.049 acre
