Exhibit E - RECLAMATION PLAN
EXISTING RECLAMATION PLAN
Upon completion of mining activities, the highwall will be backfilled with discarded brick factory
materials and processing waste material. The purpose of the backfilling is to stabilize the highwall and
prevent slumping, sliding,or subsidence of the surface adjacent to the top of the highwall. After
regrading of the spoil's material, the stockpiled topsoil will then be regraded over the disturbed area to
an average depth of 6"on the pit site and haul roads, then furrowed and broadcast seeded at a rate of
80 seeds/sq.ft.(doubled for broadcast seeding)with native grass species to approximate the prior
existing vegetational species diversity(see Exhibit 0).Due to the industrial nature of this property and
its prior disruption no natural stands of vegetation remain. Therefore,no transect of value could be
conducted. Those vegetational species present are pioneer and successional stands commonly found on
disrupted lands in this ecozone. They represent a successional stage between bare earth and a climax
short grass prairie.
Based on field surveys of undisturbed portions of the lease area adjacent to the mine,it is anticipated
that a seeding mixture of 30%Blue Grama,20%Legume species,30%Ricegrass species and 20%
Wheatgrass will be used.Other native grass species present on the site are not commercially available
as seed.Should data become available indicating edaphic conditions more appropriate for other species
of native grasses, modifications of species types and ratios in the seeding mixture may be implemented.
No trees or shrubs other than Rabbitbrush exist on the site and no plantings of trees or shrubs are
planned.Soil characteristics pertaining to vegetational viability and germination on the site are included
in Table 1.No water is available for irrigation and no mulching or fertilization is planned.
WEED CONTROL
The revegetated areas will be monitored closely each spring for the first two years to determine if
weeds are invading the area. The Weed control Plan is supplied in the Appendix of this packet to
address weed control on the mine. Total eradication of weeds from the site is not necessary desirable,
so the operator will be using controls on the noxious weeds and letting the rest grow in select areas.
PROPOSED CHANGES
Unless specifically discussed below, the reclamation methods described and approved in the approved
permit application will remain unchanged. The following text explains the changes to the reclamation
plan as proposed in this amendment. Reclamation will run concurrent with mining as the site is
developed to reduce the amount of reclamation required at any one time.
The current post mining land uses are listed as Residential. Please see the original plan and
amendments and their adequacy responses for details on the reclamation requirements approved.
The current Reclamation Plan calls for the base of the mined area to be graded and any side slopes to
be graded 3h to 1v by cut/fill sloping or a backfill method using on site materials, from the original
surface to the mine floor.
Summit Brick&Tile Company - Native/Pierre Mine 126/10 2020
