SCHOEN FARM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Notes and Explanation
The County Conditional Use Permit (2 pages)was applied for and approved under the assumption that
at least the Sand and Gravel Yard (processing plant and stockpile area)would require obtaining a DRMS
Reclamation Permit.
The BOCC has indicated informally that they would recognize a letter from DRMS stating that the
proposed activity would NOT require a reclamation permit, or that only the Sand and Gravel Yard and its
access road to County Road 15,would require a reclamation permit, as meeting the conditions of the
CUP. The 7.74-acre size in the CUP was only the Sand and Gravel Yard itself, and did not include the 1.12
acres of the access road, from the Yard to CR-15, which was approved by the BOCC.
The speed of progress in the Improvement Project is entirely dependent on the funding available both
for collecting the rock from the surface and installing the upgraded irrigation system, and the BOCC CUP
authorizes up to 15 years. While it is not expected the work would take that long, various things can
delay the work. The landowner and operator will keep the County informed on a regular and timely
basis.
