The permit area varies in elevation from 6,600'to 7,500' with the portal openings at 6,885' along Foidel <br /> Creek. Disturbed areas of the mine include the main surface facilities area along Foidel Creek and <br /> numerous smaller outlying facilities. The main mine facilities lie in Sections 29, 31, 32,T5N,R86W of <br /> the 6t1i Principal Meridian and are located in, and adjacent to,a reclaimed strip pit mine excavated <br /> originally by Colorado Yampa Coal Company's (CYCC) surface mining operation (Permit No. C-1981- <br /> 071). Other facilities currently within the permit area,but separate from the main portal facility area, <br /> include the Fish Creek Borehole (FCB),the Southwest ventilation shaft,the Eastern Mining District <br /> ventilation shaft,the Eastern Mining District dewatering borehole,the Sandstones substation,the North <br /> Escape Shaft,the Fish Creek Tipple (FCT),the Eastern Mining District grout hole pad,the Northern <br /> Mining District Power borehole,the 18-Right Ventilation Shaft,the 6-North Main Ventilation Shaft, and <br /> the 18-Left Ventilation Shaft, 5-Main North Cement Borehole and Pipelines and the 10-East Mid-Panel <br /> Emergency Air Borehole (The 10-East Mid-Panel Borehole is approved,but not installed at the writing <br /> of this document). <br /> The post-mining land uses are the same as the pre-mining land uses.
