Colorado 434 Meadows Way
Grand Junction, CO 81507
Vegetation (970) 261-1304
Management
October 20, 2020
Submitted to: Concerning Property:
Parkerson Construction,Inc. Valley Vista Gravel Pit
710 S 15th Street 128 32 Road
Grand Junction,CO 81501 Grand Junction,CO 81503
Attention: Greg Monger-GM (970)242-4654 ,re:r;rarke:.ots.com
The purpose of this letter is to address concerns brought to Parkerson Construction, Inc.by the Colorado
Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety (CDRMS)regarding the reclamation of Valley Vista Gravel
Pit, (Permit#M-81-229)located in Mesa County, Colorado in order to comply with CDRMS standards.
Colorado Vegetation Management, LLC (CVM),acting as the representative for Parkerson Construction,
Inc. in this matter, annually treats the areas actively being mined for existing noxious weed species.
Recently CVM conducted an evaluation of the existing vegetation on the entirety of the property where
the Valley Vista Gravel Pit sits. The following noxious weed species were found to be on the property
either in heavy infestations, or in smaller sporadic areas of infestation: Halogeton, cheat grass, Russian
thistle, and one tamarisk.
CVM and Parkerson Construction, Inc.has agreed upon a reclamation and noxious weed treatment plan
that will continue for as long as the permit is held to meet the standards of the CDRMS. This property
will be monitored monthly(April -August)for noxious weed species and treated as needed.
The majority of the property will be spot treated with herbicides, only where needed,to kill existing
noxious weed species, while at the same time preserving the native vegetation that has repopulated the
property over the last several decades. These areas have healthy stands of rabbitbrush, salt brush, and
native grasses that we do not want to disturb.
The portion of the property where the most recent mining activity has taken place will be graded,
dragged, and treated to prevent the emergence of those noxious weed species, and eventually re-seeded
when it is appropriate to do so. Because there is no on-site water source and hauling water to the site will
not be a cost-effective option, reseeding will be done at the optimal time, corresponding with the most
forecast natural moisture.
If any questions or concerns remain regarding the reclamation of Valley Vista Gravel Pit,please contact
me at the email address below and they will be answered promptly.
Colorado Department of AEriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator I.D.#: 29133
Colorado Vegetation Management, LLC
rrrinr -t
President
liimm u,coloradoiegetationrnanagef_
(970)261-1304
