north-south. In project documents, the J1 joint set typically strikes east-west and the J2 joint
set typically strikes north-south. Both sets are similar in spacing, roughness, and condition.
The joint sets are closely spaced (SP5: 0.1 to 0.3 ft) to very widely spaced (SP2: 3 to 10 ft).
Joint surfaces are planar and are stepped (R1) to moderately rough (R4). The joint sets are
less continuous than the foliation joints and are mostly discontinuous (C1: less than 3 ft
lengths) to slightly continuous (C2: 3 to 10 ft). Iron staining is observed on many joint
surfaces, with less staining typically observed at lower elevations. Most joints generally do
not contain infill material.
Figure 2-1 shows stereonet projections for discontinuities at the South Quarry and the West
Quarry.
51
`\.vi G.WY•I
I• 4 ahco;w_ nw /_
5
'•u f F 1 e
Figure 2-1.
