Engineering Report for proposed expansion (AM-01)for Permit# M-2017-035 (Humming Bird Mine).
The only project area that would affect any Man-Made Permanent structures within 200 feet of any of
our operations, is the Siberia Project Area. The structures that would be affected are:
1) Colorado Highway 141—which is 58 horizontal feet southeast and 21 vertical feet below the
Siberia Project Portal.
2)Two Grand Valley Power Utility poles, the closest one is 134 horizontal feet southwest and 20
vertical feet below the Siberia Portal Project Area. The second is 291 horizontal feet southeast
and 31 vertical feet below the Siberia Portal Project Area.
Our Engineering Report covers BOTH above mentioned Utilities (structures) and is minimal, as it is
evident that a hand-tool ONLY, underground operation going AWAY from the closest man-made utilities
and structures; need only show that it creates NO impact on above named man-made structures for the
following reasons:
a)This is a hand-tool only operation. Everything is packed to and from the Project Area along
the 302-foot hiking trail to the parking area.
b)All material (presumed are and waste rock)will be removed from Project Area using above
mentioned access route. No NEW rock or dirt will be ADDED to the edge of CO-141 or the area
above it.
c) Siberia Portal Project is an underground operation heading 178 degrees AWAY from the
closest man-made structure (CO-141). Utility poles are also in directions that future
underground mining operations will have no impact upon.
d) Due to the BLM's request to "not change the landscape" around the Siberia Portal Project,
nothing will ever EXTEND above or outward from the Siberia Project Area. Even if it did, it
would have to extend 58 feet horizontally to affect CO-141, 21 feet below. The utility poles are
even FURTHER outside this range!
e) Between the Siberia Portal Project Area and CO-141,there is a pre-existing vertical shaft that
is 63 feet deep. It is covered by a metal grate. By our measurements (100-foot tape measure),
this shaft that is 32 feet away from CO-141 extends 42 feet below the level of the highway. It is
our"engineering" opinion that if underground operations (pre-existing or NEW) were of concern
to C-DOT, this shaft would have been filled and not grated.
Miners Mall/ Humming Bird Mine operator is willing to monitor/correct any area that any agency feels
is needed. This includes erosion control and stormwater runoff to prevent any future UUD of the area.
Miners Mall/ Humming Bird Mine operator also agrees to DRMS and/or BLM directives regarding any
future concerns from either Grand Valley Power or C-DOT regarding their pre-existing structures, or
future changes of their structures.
Attached are diagrams documenting all measurements, structures, and operational disturbances.
