This inspection was conducted by Tabetha Lynch with the Colorado Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division). Also present for the inspection was Miranda Kawcak with
Peabody Sage Creek Mining. The Sage Creek Mine is an inactive non -producing mine currently in Temporary
Cessation.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records were checked at the Foidel Creek Mine Office 10/13. See checklist at the end of this report for
details.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Water sampling is contracted to WWC for this site.
Ponds were all flowing at sage creek including Site 7 (storm water by office). Site 7 appears to be being fed by a
spring in a patch of willows behind the office outside the disturbance boundary.
Pumps were off during inspection and some water was present at the portals.
Lower Sump still appears to have a spring or preferential flow from the creek under the road. The area is saturated
and may be coming from a spring, or a preferential path from the creek or culvert. This was noted in the last
inspection in May and July as well. This area should be monitored for changes. The area appeared stable at the
time of inspection.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 4
