October 6,2020 RECEIVED <br /> Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br /> 1313 Sherman Street <br /> Denver, Colorado 80203 OCT 0 9 f�.��� <br /> DIVISION OF RECLAMATION <br /> To Whom It May Concern: MINING AND SAFETY <br /> This letter is intended to go on record as our objecting to and protesting to the Peak Ranch Resource petition <br /> (file number M2020041). We purchased a beautiful mountain residence about 10 years ago in Acorn Creek <br /> Ranch Estates. A primary motivation for us was to have a high mountain residence in a pristine area of <br /> mountains,timber, open lands and streams. <br /> This area has Federal wilderness area on both sides of the Highway 9 corridor;thousands of acres of ranch <br /> land forever protected from development by conservation easements; and the Blue River, a primary, pristine <br /> waterway flowing through the valley. In essence,this area currently is the epitome of a pristine, Colorado <br /> high mountain environment. <br /> We are saddened and upset at the prospect of a dirty, unsightly gravel pit in this valley, along Highway 9,that <br /> will be grossly, inconsistent with the pristine nature of this area. The prospect of having between 200 and <br /> 250 huge gravel truck trips per day, to and from this facility, to the Peak processing plant near Maryland Creek <br /> Ranch in Silverthorne, is very concerning. This stretch of highway is already considered to be one of the more <br /> dangerous main arteries in the high country, and this huge increase in slow moving, heavy truck traffic will <br /> only exacerbate the problem. Besides being extremely dangerous to vehicular traffic, the wildlife in this area <br /> will be adversely impacted from all the noise and air pollution created by this activity.
