f ,
NEW ELK COAL
COMPANY
Exhibit A
New Elk Coal Co., LLC. has completed its exploration planning process for the
Lorencito property. The goal of this program is to confirm the coal quality
characteristics of the Primerio seam, seam characteristics such as thickness and
location and provide additional geotechnical information on for the roof and floor
rock conditions for mine planning. Two field tours have been conducted with Mike
Powell to ensure the drilling locations selected are easy to build on the landscape,
do not interfere with the landowner's activities, and minimize the amount of
disturbance required. In summary a total of 16 rotary core holes are planned to be
drilled targeting the Primero coal seam to recovery both rock and coal samples for
subsequent test work. The Notice of Intent application for this exploration program
has been provided in Appendix A for reference. In compliance with the drilling
agreement signed between MGP Mineral Enterprises LLLP, Hill Ranch, Hill
Group, and New Elk Coal Company LLC that this Exhibit A is attached to, the
following bolded information requests were provided as part of this Exhibit. The
following provides responses for each information requests.
1. Map showing any proposed new road construction; Access to drill sites using
the most direct route over existing roads is preferred; How will road use and
maintenance be coordinated with Evergreen?
Total disturbance estimates are shown in Table 1 below. Map 2 shows the existing
roads used for access. New road construction for all proposed drill sites is limited
to 450 feet of approximately a 14-foot-wide road. New road construction is limited
and is not visible on the map, because it is so minor and is not visible given the
scale of the map. NECC will grade existing roads during drilling if snow
accumulation warrants. Furthermore, NECC will grade any existing roads used for
access, once after the project is done, in agreement with Evergreen.
Phone (719) 631-6146
12250 State Hwy 12 Fax (719) 868-0044
Weston, Colorado 81091 EMAIL nmasonOnewe%al,com
