OUR4V SILL ER 119LbE5
indicate the required amount of overburden and topsoil required to baclfll over the top of the
concrete plug, as well as the source of that material. In association with the narrative with the
above listed details, please provide a final reclamation configuration map of the reclaimed shaft
areas.
OSMI Response: The removed section of the shaft casing and concrete pad will be broken into
smaller pieces and placed down the shaft prior to capping and backfilling. No off-site disposal of
this material is proposed. The volume of material required to backfill over the top of the concrete
plug will be the same as the amount of material removed during shaft construction. The
backfilled material will be blended in to match the local topography with a minimum of 6 inches
of topsoil or native materials placed on top of the backfilled areas. The sources of this material
will be soil or other native materials(e.g., rock) stockpiled during shaft construction.Additional
text was added to the Reclamation Plan, and a new map F-2 with the reclaimed shaft areas is
included in Attachment 2.
The shaft areas will be reclaimed as follows:
• Monogahela(Hubb Reed) Shaft in Governor Basin-the proposed shaft area is located on
a previously disturbed area and is comprised primarily of waste rock material from
historic operations. The reclamation of this area will include demolishing the surface
structures and placing them down the shaft and capping as described in the Reclamation
Plan. Waste rock and other native materials removed during construction will be placed
over the top of the cap and blended with the surrounding landscape.
• Yellow Rose and 960 Raise—Soils and other native materials will be removed during
construction of the shafts and stored in berms within the permit area. Reclamation of
these areas will include demolishing the surface features and placing them in the shafts
and capping the shafts as described in the Reclamation Plan. Materials excavated during
construction will be placed over the top of the cap, blended with the native landscape and
broadcast seeded.
d. Section 3.3 "Dismantle Buildings and Structures at Portal Area"discusses the demolition of
structures, associated foundations and removal of contents for structures to remain post-
reclamation. Please indicate the final disposal location for all items to be removed from the site,
the estimated total volume (by material type) and if any materials require disposal in a
specialized hazardous materials disposal site please indicate the location and haulage distance
to that facility.
OSMI Response: The buildings and structures to be removed at the Revenue Portal Area
ultimately will be placed inside the portal prior to closing the portal. Materials will not be
disposed of offsite and will not require a specialized hazardous materials disposal facility with
the exception of unused mill chemicals.A list of these materials is provided in Table L-2 within
the reclamation cost spreadsheet. The portal will be backfilled to the surface highwall and a steel
bat gate will be installed over the entrance.
6 1 P a g e
