1
CONCRETE INC.
Exhibit J: Vegetation Information
Please see attached Rangeland and Forest Vegetation Classification, Productivity, and Plant
Composition information from USDA Web Soil mapping Website as well as the accompanying
map from the same website. This website was given to us after we contacted the NRCS Fremont
Conservation District. They directed us to the USDA Web Soil Survey mapping system for the
information we were inquiring about.
If you refer to exhibit L you will see the proposed seed mix we intend to use for revegetation of
the land once extraction activities have subsided, match the description of existing vegetation on
the proposed area within this 112c application. On a normal year, the pounds per acre for total
dry weight production on all the seeds is between 750-800. We are proposing to place 12 pounds
per acre for revegetation purposes. It is understood that once the plants take seed, germinate and
seed new plants, the production rate will eventually get to the same as what is existing.
The map and table of the land references the same numeric numbers as many other exhibits
contained within this application. (16, 105, 52) This map is a slightly different `layered' map of
the version that is viewed in exhibit C. However, upon comparison, one can begin to make
relation on the types of existing vegetation & where they are located within the limits of the
proposed extraction site.
As noted elsewhere in this application, we do not anticipate any extraction activity within the
North Western section of the 105 area. And other than an access road, there will be no activity in
the Northern -most section either.
Please see the accompanying table for descriptions of the present vegetation types, estimates of
cover, and plant height. Upon review of the table, we are not sure why there is not a plant height
listing on all the tables. It would appear the area within section 52 (the largest section) has the
plants listed as 10"-14" high. Yet, none of the other sections on the table have heights listed.
However, once studying the table, you can begin to determine that nearly all the vegetation
within the sections (16, 105, 52) are the same. So, we are comfortable with saying the 90% of the
vegetation in sections 16 & 105 are going to be the same height as in section 52.
LANGSTON
902 South Union Street Florence, Co. 81226 (719) 784-3878 Office (719) 784-1158 Fax
