Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine
Valley Leach Facility 2 Phase 3 v■
Detailed Design for Permitting,Revision 1
NewFields Project No.475.0106.033
July 2020
> Stage A
o 3.3 million square feet of lined pad
o Contains the PSSA and PSSA embankment
o Backfills first phase of the Schist Island Pit
o Refer to Drawings A07 and A08 for limits of Stage A and the PSSA
> Stage B
0 2.8 million square feet of lined pad
o Abuts against the west face of the SGOSA
o Refer to Drawing A09 for limits of Stage B
Stage C
0 1.9 million square feet of lined pad
o Backfills second phase of the Schist Island Pit
o Refer to Drawing A10 for limits of Stage C
The ultimate ore stacking design for this project was developed using an overall slope of 2.5
horizontal (H):1 vertical (V), around the perimeter of the facility. The design assumes an ore lift
height of 50-feet placed and graded at an approximate 2H:1V slope and 25 foot wide benches
between lifts. In accordance to the previous designs, the maximum design ore depth over the
liner is 800 feet.
Post closure surface water diversion channels for VLF2 have been updated to include the Phase
3 expansion. All of the closure channels will convey the stormwater flow resulting from the 500-
year/24-hour storm event.
1.2. Scope of Work
NewFields was retained by CC&V to provide engineering services for the VLF2 Phase 3 expansion.
This design report includes the following:
Design and layout for the Phase 3 expansion into three stages;
> Updating the Water Balance Model for the Phase 3 PSSA Sizing
> Design of the PSSA riser system;
> Hydraulic design of the closure stormwater diversion channels for VLF2;
A design report suitable for management and agency review; and
Page 2
