NEWMONT
DBMS Comment(italics):
70. Section 2.2 Climate. The narrative states 4.1 inches of'precipitation is used for the 100-year. 24-
hour event. NO.4.4 .4tlas 14 indicates 4.26 inches is the more appropriate value. Please provide a
source for the 4.1 inches.
Newmont Response:
As approved in TR-101. the 100-year 24-hour precipitation value is referenced from NOAA Atlas 14
Volume 8 Version 2 to be 4.1 inches
DBMS Comment(italics):
71. Section 2.3 - Underground Workings. This section states it is anticipated that the underground
workings within the footprint of 4 LF2 Phase will he removed during the development of the Schist
Islands Pit. Please commit to documenting and remediating all underground workings encountered
at the final buildout of the Schist Island prior to hackfilling to ensure no voids are created in the
huckfill material underneath Phase 3 VLF2.
Newmont Response:
Language in Section 2.3 of the Geotechnical Exhibit has been updated to reflect that CC&V will remediate
and document known and identified underground workings.
DRMS Comment(italics):
-2. Section 3.2, p. 3, 3th paaph. Was the depth to groundwater in BH-03 measured after the
completion ofdrilling? If'so, what was the measured level"
Newmont Response:
The groundwater was not measured at the end of drilling the borehole. The water was estimated based on
samples recovered and interpretations in the field. There was no recovery on the sample at 35 ft depth.
Boring logs and photos of the core recovered at BH-05 are included in Attachment 13.
DBMS Comment(italics):
3. Section 4.1, p. 2nd paragraph. The Division is concerned about the comment that pit huckfill
material is not within the scope of this design. If this comment refers to backfill in the developing
Schist Island Pit, then the Division will require a backfill program similar to that perfortned for the
mill platform constructed on the southeast side o1.1"LF2. Ifthis refers to 'Jill"placed previously (15
to 20 years ago) with the development of the SGOS_4 in the vicinitvofinvestigative boreholes BH01
- BH-05 (reference December 5, 2019 VLF2 Phase 3 Issued.for Permitting Drtat,ing .403), more
discussion is required to assure the Division proper.subgrade treatment will be performed prior to
installing liner in this area.
