The Dunn Ranch Area Lease was issued on June 10, 2020 after completion of an
environmental assessment and a competitive leasing process. The lease gives GCC Energy LLC the
exclusive rights to all coal within the boundary of the lease. Please note that the lease is for underground
coal mining and lies primarily beneath split estate lands. Surface estate is primarily owned by the Ute
Mountain Ute tribe, with a smaller amount of other private surface owners and a small parcel of BLM
administered surface. The mine plan for the lease is being administered by the Office of Surface Mining
Reclamation and Safety, and included off-lease disturbance,as well as a small area of privately owned
coal. For your convenience a copy of the LR-2000 Serial Register Page which shows that the lease was
issued by the BLM to GCC Energy LLC. A complete set of document pertaining to the environmental
assessment can be found at https://eplanning.blm.gov/olanning-ui/project/I 18238/570. Figures in this
document show the location of the mine, the pertinent leases, mine permit boundary, and surface
ownership. If you have any questions, please contact James Blair, the Tres Rios Field Office Geologist at
(9870) 882-1135.
Sincerely,
Connie Clementson
Tres Rios Field Manager
Attachments:
LR-2000 Serial Register Page
CC (via email):
Marcello Calle, Manager Program Support, OSMRE
Jennifer Maiolo, COSO Coal Program Manager(acting)
John Grasso, CO-921
