Ouray Silver Mines,Inc.
1900 Main St. Unit 1
PO Box 564
Ouray,CO 81427 — --"—'
- ! ILRAY SILIER MI...E
To: Division of Reclamation,Mining, and Safety RECEIVED
From: Brian K.Briggs,P.E.,Chief Executive Officer
Date: July 23,2020 AUG 0 6 2020
Subject: M20 *Q2 2020 Dissolved Silver Exceedance in GW-3R
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Dear Mr. West, MINING&SAFETY
Ouray Silver Mines Inc.(OSMI)is writing to inform DRMS of a dissolved silver exceedance in well
GW-3R during second quarter 2020 sampling. A resample has been scheduled for Tuesday,July 28,
2020.
The GW-3R sample,collected on June 24,2020,contained 0.0002 mg/L dissolved silver,above the
permitted 0.0001 mg/L. Importantly,the state mandated practical quantification limit(PQL)is 0.0005
mg/L is well above both the permit limit and the result.Detections below the PQL and the 0.0001 mg/L
method detection limit(MDL)strain the analytical methodology reliability. Results between the MDL
and PQL have error of+/- 100%and should be considered estimates. Because the groundwater dissolved
silver limit is based on non-detect silver(<0.0001mg/L)any detection results in an exceedance of the
existing permit limit.
Since the initial Q2 sampling, the well has been extended to accommodate construction of the passive r
treatment system. The peristaltic pump,a suction-type pump, cannot pull a sample at this deeper depth. 1
OSMI's third party sampler(PureWater Sytems)will acquire a bladder pump,displacement-type, for next
week's sampling event and future groundwater sampling events.
Sincerely,
Brian K. Briggs PE
CEO,Ouray Silver Mines Inc.
i
Phone: (970) 325-9830 ♦ Fax: (970)325-9824
