We have been offered
the material from a couple of abandoned Irrigation reservoirs here in our county.
The Irrigation reservoirs are manmade built above the ground. Some are square, rectangle, and triangle
shaped and most are built in the corner of an agricultural sprinkler circle. The material used is gravel,
Dirt and most are lined with bentonite or Clay. In most cases there will be a cut area at the base of the
pond that may be as much as 3 foot deep. As we remove these,if allowed we will use as much material
as needed from the reservoir walls to fill in the void and level the ground.
The land owner is donating the material if we would haul it off, no money will be paid and the only in
kind work would be to level the base of the reservoir.
A D6 Dozer, wheeled loader and trucks will be utilized to remove the material. No crushing, screening or
other processing will take place on the private property.
The material will be hauled and stock piled at our three District shops, more than likely to the shop that
IJ 1,IVsCit to the i-cScivVif.All iilaierfal YiliiE uc li'SZU to fJUlld roads or If1 any of our pfOjeClS that It Can be
utilized for.
As mentioned there are several of these reservoirs throughout the county and we would like to be able
to utilize this material as these and other reservoirs come available in the future.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions
You.
ti--
Don Martinez
Conejos County Road and Bridge Director.
719-376-5654 Ext 4
719-580-7761
P.O.
