3.0 RESULTS <br /> 3.1 Phase II —Veaetation Results <br /> 3.1.1 Phase II Bond Release Block <br /> A total of 35 plant species were encountered within the Phase II Bond Release Block evaluated in <br /> 2019. Species consisted of 18 grass taxa, 16 forbs, 0 sub-shrubs, and 1 shrub (Appendix A Table 3). <br /> Ground cover in the Phase II Bond Release Block (Chart 1 and Table 2) consisted of 52.33% live <br /> vegetation, 1.8% rock, 24.48% litter, and bare ground exposure of 21.4%. Perennial cover across the <br /> unit averaged 40.00%. Annual grasses were 9.00% cover,annual / biennial forbs were 15.93% cover <br /> and cheatgrass averaged 3.13% cover while other noxious weeds averaged 0.70% cover. Dominant <br /> taxa were thickspike wheatgrass (Agropyron dasystachyum) and Japanese brome (Bromusjaoonicus), <br /> with 18.03%, and 7.8% average cover, respectively (Appendix A Table 3). <br /> 3.1.2 Mountain Shrub Reference Area <br /> A total of 47 plant species were encountered within the Mountain Shrub Sagebrush Reference <br /> Area evaluated in 2019. Species consisted of 14 grass taxa, 27 forbs, 0 sub-shrubs and 6 shrubs <br /> (Appendix A Table 4). Ground cover in the Mountain Shrub Reference Area (Chart 1 and Table 2) <br /> consisted of 58.4% live vegetation, 0.40% rock, 39.10% litter, and bare ground exposure of 2.10%. <br /> Perennial cover across the unit averaged 50.30%. Annual grasses were 4.25%cover,annual/ biennial <br /> forbs were 2.10% cover and cheatgrass averaged 1.75% cover while no other noxious weeds were <br /> encountered. Dominant taxa were big sagebrush (Artemisa tridentate), roundleaf snowberry <br /> (Symohoricaroos rotundifiius), Gambel's oak (Quercus gambeiii), and geyer's sedge (Carex geyeri), <br /> with 9.90%, 9.65%, 8.55%, and 6.00% average cover, respectively(Appendix A Table 4). <br /> 3.1.3 Saaebrush Reference Area <br /> A total of 36 plant species were encountered within the Sagebrush Reference Area evaluated in <br /> 2019. Species consisted of 9 grass taxa, 20 forbs, 1 sub-shrubs and 6 shrubs (Appendix A Table 5). <br /> Ground cover in the Sage Reference Area (Chart 1 and Table 2) consisted of 53.50% live vegetation, <br /> 1.50% rock, 36.15% litter, and bare ground exposure of 8.85%. Perennial cover across the unit <br /> averaged 34.50%. Annual grasses were 17.25% cover, annual/ biennial forbs were 1.75% cover and <br /> no cheatgrass or other noxious weeds were encountered. Dominant taxa were Japanese brome, big <br /> sagebrush, and roundleaf snowberry, with 17.25%, 9.45%, and 2.70% average cover, respectively <br /> (Appendix A Table 5). <br /> 12 <br />
