Approved Hydrological Monitoring Program
Table 2.04.7-1 summarizes various current approved monitoring sites. They are shown on Map
2.04.7-1A. For New Horizon 2 Mine, the sites are based upon recommendations made by
Greystone Consultants and subsequent revisions requested by WFC. The monitoring plan revised
as per TR38 will be adequate for the Garvey and Burbridge leases included in the permit boundary
and other mining areas to the west-northwest that WFC intends to include within the permit
boundary in the near future. TR-47 resumes the monitoring of wells GW-N16, GW-N17 and GW-
N18. TR-59 resumes the monitoring of wells GW-N3, GW N8, GW-N-9, GW-N36, GW-N37 and
GW-N38.
Map 2.04.7-1A shows the locations of surface stations and wells for the New Horizon Mine 2
monitoring program. Modifications to the existing monitoring locations for surface and groundwater
are discussed below. All data will be reported in the annual hydrology report.
Map 2.04.7-1A has been updated to distinguish among the active and non-active wells for both New
Horizon Mine areas #1 and 2.
Also, Attachment 2.04.7-4 is included to provide the status and baseline data for all ground water
monitoring wells for both New Horizon 1 and New Horizon 2.
Table 2.04.7-1
New Horizon Mine
Hydrological Monitoring Program
Monthly Quarterly Semi-
annual) Annually
NEW HORIZON 2 MINE February, May,
August, Nov February
August August
GW-N3 (Underburden) Field (5) Lab(6)
GW-N8 (Overburden & Dakota Coal) Field 5 Lab 6
GW-N9 (Overburden & Dakota Coal) Field (5) Lab(6)
GW-N16P1 Underburden Field 5 Lab(6)
2.04.7-49
