4_2 Zone 4
Zone 4 has the same final grade as approved in TR 02. However, the southern portion of the
upper transverse pipe was not installed. Excavation in this area generated a distinct increase in -
cobble sized material with high porosity. It was determined that the installation of the upper pipe
would be superfluous. The slope will drain sufficiently with the central and lower pipes.
4.2.1 Slope Stability Analysis
The final grade through Zone 4, along the X2-X2' grade line, was modelled in GALENA with
only the lower pipe and longitudinal pipe. The final pipe arrangement and grade have been
loaded into GALENA software and evaluated for slope stability based on the material properties
determined by Ground Engineering. The lowest Factor of Safety was found to be 1.35 and can be
seen in Figure 7.
Material Keys
1,Collurium
2:Talllnps
l:We
6600
6500
6400
6300
6200
6100
6000 Anstysis 3
Multiple Stability Analysis
Method Bishop Simplified
5900 Surface: Circular(Critical Seed)
-.L.__.. ---L -- L
Results
1000 Crrfic
100 200 300 406 500 600 700 0 900 al Factor of Sdaty: 1.35
Figure 7—Zone 4 Cross Section (GALENA)
z Bishops Method of Slices(Mutliple)
Ralston TR 03 14 Greg l.ewicki and Associate.PIRA
