Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety <br />Mined Land Reclamation -Coal Program <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />June 24, 2020 <br />Re: Coal Permit C-1981-41 Snowcap Coal Company, Inc. -Colorado <br />Dear Mr. Secretary, Ladies and Gentlemen: <br />This letter concerns specific reclamation problems identified within <br />the referenced permit area in Mesa County, Colorado generally <br />known as "Roadside Portals". The Roadside Portals permit was <br />transferred from Powderhorn Coal Company to Snowcap Coal <br />Company, Inc. on March 15, 2002. 1 represent Rudy Fontanari, a <br />construction materials operator who maintains an operation on lands <br />owned by the Fontanari Trust, most of which lie above historically <br />mined areas. <br />The permit area is believed to be 10,114 acres and includes all or <br />parts of 3 Pre -1977 Act Mines, the Go -Boy, Blue Flame and Roadside <br />Mines. These original mines generally supplied local coal markets <br />prior to the onset of large-scale mechanized mining.
