Dear Planning Director: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 26, 2020, a permit revision application for a permit to conduct coal mining operations, Permit No. C-1981-010 by Trapper Mining, Inc., was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining initiate from this date of filing. Mining and reclamation plan for the I and J Pits. This includes 155.0 acres of new disturbance and 51.7 acres of redisturbance of Phase III bond released areas. A portion of the area was designated as cropland, use however, has been grazing and wildlife habitat. Reclamation of these areas to rangland is also being requested. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is located approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado.
