area for disposal . The anticipated excavation life of this
project will be approximately 12 months more or less . It is
largely dependent on the availability of the equipment needed to
remove the material and the seasonal weather conditions if not
completed before winter begins .
The site is currently used as rangeland and consists of the
northwest side of a gravel terrace above the Colorado River
Valley to the west and the Smith Creek on the north. The mate-
rial depth ranges from 0 to 50 feet deep . The soil covering the
gravel averages 0 to 14 inches deep over the material to be
removed.
The material generated is waste as far as the operator is
concerned but it will likely be processed into construction
material or used as pit run fill material by the company removing
it .
Initially, an area on the north end of the level area will
be stripped of soil and leveled to create a storage place for the
material hauled to the site under the old backfilling plan.
Until it is placed on the building envelope to cover the
underlaying gravely floor . Any soil stripped will be stored
along the east mine setback or on the north stockpile area for
use in reclaiming the east slope and provide a temporary sight
berm for the neighbor to the east .
Material removal will start on the high point of the mine
near the south line and work west and north. Scrapers will be
used to removed and haul the material to the disposal area on the
adjoining mine . The plan is to then removed the west and south
sides of the permit area so the floor of the site will be approx-
imately 5 feet above the floor of the adjoining mine . This will
leave the building envelope area nearly level and ready for
building . A private road will be built to access the house along
The south side of the permit area . Reclamation Ridge LLC and
Daniel and Donna Hahn have agreed to "day lighting" out the
slopes that would be left on their side of the property line so
an artificial ridge is not left between properties . This will
leave a temporary north facing slope on the Thompson Resource
mine (Hahn property) that would be removed when that area is
mined. The east slope will be graded 3 : 1 and the north undis-
turbed area and slope below the development floor will remain in
its natural state . No blasting will take place in this mine .
A 10-foot mining limit setback line will be established by
grading a ditch parallel to the east permit line . Because of the
way the material will be removed there will be no working face on
the mine . The scrapers will be taking the top of the material
off with each pass so the working area will gradually be lower
Track 4 Grading Project June 11, 2020
23
