Acid or toxic forming materials will not be generated by stripping operations at the Trapper Mine. The
chemical composition and geological structure of the overburden and interburden of this area indicate
there are only minor areas of unsuitable materials present (see Section 2.7).
Other wastes that are generated in and around the mine facilities area will be handled and treated as ref-
erenced in Section 4.3 "Waste Disposal."
3.5.7 Non -Applicable Situations
Because of the topography at the Trapper Mine, the depth and pitch of the coal seams, and the geological
structures and composition of the interburden and overburden, there are several provisions of regulation
that are not applicable as listed and explained below:
Terracing
Due to the degree of slopes, depth of coal and spoil conditions on the property, terracing has not
historically been used at the Trapper Mine. An exception to this is the final configuration of the
Horse Gulch Fill. Terraces (benches) have been constructed at intervals of 100 vertical feet to
insure stability.
Slopes Greater Than 20°
With the exception of small localized areas that occur as the side slopes of natural gullies, there are
no slopes greater than 200 on the permit area. The areas that may exceed 200 are very minor and
will in fact be eliminated during mining operations either by the dragline, dozers, or similar
equipment.
Thick or Thin Overburden
As demonstrated by the following calculations, there is neither thick nor thin overburden at the
Trapper Mine. The ratio of final thickness to
_NVALAL JL
MAY 21 2013.Ih._._
3-48
