3.6.2.6 Noxious Weed Control
• Trapper's noxious weed management plan may Include appropriate cultural, mechanical, biological or
herbicidal control methods. In some cases, only one control method may be warranted, while in other
cases a combination of control methods may be appropriate.
The herbicides used In controlling broad -leafed noxious weeds at Trapper Mine Include, but are not
limited to, Krenite-S, Escort, Tordon 22K, Banvel, Arsenal, and 2,4-D (amine form). Herbicide may be
applied to the noxious plants during their post -emergence form In the spring, bud to early blossom stage
during the early summer months and/or during regrowth In the fall. Appropriate rates as recommended
by the manufacturer and the extent of yearly Infestations regulate the amount of herbicide to be applied
in weed -infected areas at Trapper Mite.
Herbicides are applied with a tractor -mounted sprayer, powered by tractor hydraulics, or equipment pro-
viding similar controlled application.
Reclaimed areas riot yet seeded and supporting a substantial noxious weed population may be disced,
mowed, sprayed, or otherwise destroyed. If noxious weed infestations occur on revegetated areas,
appropriate control measures may be taken to control Infestations (e.g. spot spray with appropriate
herbicide). Herbicide or other weed control applications will not normally be applied to the first two
growing seasons after seeding to avoid unnecessary application and destruction of established target
natural plants.
•
The following plants may be considered to be noxious weeds at Trapper Mine:
•
Common name
Scientific name
Leafy spurge
EEu horbla esula
Canada Thistle
Cirsium arvense
Musk Thistle
Carduus nutans
Plumeless Thistle
C. acanthoides
Scotch Thistle
On000rdum acanthium
Perennial Sow Thistle
Sonchus arvensis
Russian Knapweed
Centaurea reoena
Spotted Knapweed
Centaurea maculosa
Diffuse Knapweed
Ceutaurea diffusa
Yellow toad flax
Llnaria vulgaris
Dalmation toad flax
L nenistifolia dalmatica
or L dalmatica macedonia
Hoary cress (white top)
Cardaria draba
Field bindweed
Convolvulus arvensls
3-77
