INTRODUCTION
Quantitative sampling of reclaimed and reference areas at Seneca Property, LLC (SPL) Yoast Mine was
performed between August 13th through 27th in 2016 by Cedar Creek Associates, Inc. (Cedar Creek) to
provide data for formal testing of revegetation success in application for Phase II Bond Release.
Methods, sample areas, and sample sizes were specified in a study plan submitted by SPL to Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS) (2016 Scope of Work, Cedar Creek).
METHODS
Phase 11 Bond Release Block 2a Sampling
The 123.7 acres of the Bond Release Block 2a (BRB-2a)was assembled from reclamation parcels
seeded from 2002 to 2013. The 69.3 acres of the Bond Release Block 3 (BRB-3) was assembled from
reclamation parcels seeded in 2007 and 2010. Lands included in the BRB-2a and BRB-3 are subject to
the Colorado Permanent Regulatory Program (Post-Law). Sample areas and locations are shown on
Map 1, "2016 Vegetation Monitoring Locations - Phase II BRB-2a" and Map 2, "2016 Vegetation
Monitoring Locations - Phase II BRB-3 and Haul Road Reference Area."
Reference Area Sampling
The Aspen, Mountain Brush, Sagebrush and Steep Mountain Brush Extended Reference Areas (ERA)
were sampled to provide cover data for comparison with BRB-2a. The Haul Road Reference Area was
sampled to provide cover data for comparison with the BRB-3. Reference Area sampling locations are
shown on Map 2, "2016 Vegetation Monitoring Locations - Phase II BRB-3 and Haul Road Reference
Area," and Map 3, "2016 Vegetation Monitoring Locations— Extended Reference Areas."
1
