The site was flown and photgraphed by Brock Bowles. Pictures were
inspected by Leigh Simmons.
A focus of the inspection was on Mine Ventilation Borehole (MVB) pads and roads in the Sunset Trails
area. MVB construction in this area was approved with PR -15, at the time that the permit area was expanded to
include the four Sunset Trails panels. The precise layout of pads and roads is subject to revision, and is determined
in cooperation with the USFS Paonia Ranger District. The layout of MVBs on the SS panel was revised with
MR -435, and on SS2 with MR -441. The aerial images show the SS pads and roads, which were constructed in
2019, and the recent construction of the road to access MVBs SS2-1 through -5. No pads had yet been constructed
on the SS2 panel, and no roads had yet been constructed to access MVBs SS2-6, -7 and -8, or any MVBs on the
SS3 or SS4 panels.
Mountain Coal Company's drilling contractor (Racs, LLC. of Delta, CO) and earthwork contractor (D&S
Underground, Inc. of Hotchkiss, CO) were each working on the reclamation of MVB holes and pads at the east
end of panels E-7 and E-8 at the time of the inspection, and were expected to continue to do so throughout the
construction season.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
Activities at the mine were in compliance with the currently approved mine plan.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER (SPECIFY)
N/A
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 2 of 18
