Geotechnical Engineering Report lrerracon <br /> Carr Aggregate Pit ■ Carr, Colorado <br /> April 23, 2020 ■ Terracon Project No. 20195087 GeOReporf <br /> claystone shale, sandy shale and scattered lenticular beds of sandstone and lignite. The Laramie <br /> Formation contains major coal beds and has been an important source for underground mining <br /> of coal in the past. Our subsurface exploration generally confirmed the conditions anticipated from <br /> the geologic maps; however, no coal was encountered and the bedrock was predominately <br /> sandstone. <br /> Due to the flat nature of the property, geologic hazards at the site are anticipated to be low. <br /> Seismic activity in the area is anticipated to be low; and from a structural standpoint, the property <br /> should be relatively stable.With proper site grading around proposed structures and re-vegetation <br /> of stripped areas, erosion problems at the site should be minor. <br /> The geologic conditions presented in this section were obtained by locating the subject site on <br /> available large-scale geologic maps. Because of the scales involved, precise location of the site <br /> can be difficult to determine. In addition, the large-scale geologic maps describe only general <br /> trends. Local variations are possible and site specific geology may differ from those described <br /> above. <br /> Subsurface Profile <br /> Specific conditions encountered at each boring or test pit location are indicated on the individual logs. <br /> Stratification boundaries on the boring/test pit logs represent the approximate location of changes in <br /> soil types; in situ, the transition between materials may be gradual. Details for each of the borings <br /> or test pits can be found in Exploration Results. A discussion of field sampling and laboratory <br /> testing procedures and test results are presented in Exploration and Testing Procedures. Based <br /> on the results of the borings and test pits, subsurface conditions on the project site can be <br /> generalized as follows: <br /> Material Description Approximate Depth to Bottom of Stratum <br /> Overburden: Vegetative layer consisting of some About 1 to 4'h feet below existing site <br /> organic soils as well as sand, silt, and clay grades. <br /> Potential Aggregate: Cobbles, gravels, and sand About 31/to 13'/feet below existing site <br /> with varying fines content grades. <br /> Bedrock:Typically silty sandstone, some claystone, To the maximum depth of exploration of about <br /> highly weathered to slightly weathered, poorly 25 feet. <br /> cemented <br /> As noted in General Comments, this characterization is based upon widely spaced exploration <br /> points across the site and variations are likely. <br /> Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 3 <br />
