Mr. Peter Hays, DPMS
August 6, 2019
Aaron Hilshorst MAY 15 2020
19302 County Road 3
Parshall, CO 80468 DIVISION OFRECL"TION
Phone: 720-942-3420 MINING AND SAFETY
(d) No monitoring or analyses were performed for this situation since the tailings from the TDL
were not released off-site and did not impact any natural water body.
(e) After moving taliing flow to the ECO, an inspection of the TDL revealed a small hole near
a fused joint in the HDPE portion of the TDL. A large band clamp was attached to the
TDL in the location of the leak and was successful in preventing further releases after
tailings were returned to the pipeline. As for the drop tower leak, a quick set concrete
water plug was placed in the hole and, similarly, no further releases of tailings were
identified. A large scale, robotic inspection of the TDL is scheduled for later this summer
to assess the integrity of the TDL.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 720-942-3420 or Miguel
Hamarat at 720-942-3255.
Sincerely,
/4
t
r i
Aaron Hilshorst
Chief Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum Company
Henderson Operations
CC (via email):
M.
