M-2008-017—Broken Arrow Investments, LLC—Derr Pit—Technical Revision Request No.4
May 1, 2020
-2-
Change of Depth of Phase 5a: Revision of the existing permit to reflect that surface mining for
the area was from 8'-10' and will now change to a depth not exposing groundwater.
The approved permit has a Phase 5a that showed 8'-10' of depth for initial mining not exposing
groundwater. We are requesting that this be updated to reflect the depth of mining shall be to a depth
not exposing groundwater as the depth to groundwater is greater than the 8'-10' of depth. The bonding
will not need to be increased for Phase 5a as the mining slope is a 3:1 slope which is the same as the
reclamation slope. The bonding for the Derr Pit is currently $2,090,100.00 which includes the
disturbance for Phase 5a so there should not be an increase needed for the existing bond.
Change of grading for disturbed areas: Revision of the existing permit to reflect proposed
grading in disturbed areas on east side of original permit boundary.
The grading on the east side of the existing permit boundary is proposed to be re-graded to utilize
material on the east side for construction aggregates/materials. Slope stability analysis has been
provided to show the 3:1 slope is safe for the east side of the permit boundary.
Broken Arrow Investments, LLC appreciates your consideration of this revision request and looks
forward to your response.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
J.C. York, P.E.
J&T Consulting,Inc.
Attachments:
$216 Check for Technical Revision review fee
Updated Mining Plan Exhibits
Slope Stability Analysis
cc: Broken Arrow Investments, LLC
File
mi 305 Denver Avenue-Suite D•Fort Lupton CO 80621 • Ph: 303-857-6222• Fax: 303-857-6224
id
