4,..
Earthmoving Contractors
6201 McIntyre Street • Golden, Colorado 80403
Ph#(303)279-4150 Fax#(303)279-4799
Exhibit K — Climate
Annual precipitation on the plains ranges from 12 to 18 inches per year with much of the
moisture occurring in the winter and early spring or late in the summer(Resources, 1998). This
precipitation mostly comes from widespread storms that can sometimes be extremely heavy.
Localized rains can fall in excess of 4 inches (Nolan J. Doesken, 2003). It is common for the years
to be drier than average and be on the verge of drought, receiving half or less of the long term
rainfall average (Nolan J. Doesken, 2003).
The average daily maximum high temperature for the plains region in the summer is often 95°F
or above, and the average low for that time of year is around 58°F. During the winter months
the average high is 43°F with the average low being 17°F. The range of freeze free period for
the MLRA 67B North is 120 and 160 days (Service N. R., 2012).
