SUNDAY MINE COMPLEX-HYDROGEOLOGIC REPORT <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Western Water& Land, Inc. (WWL) has prepared this report on behalf of Pinon Ridge Mining <br /> LLC (PRM) to document the hydrologic characterization component of the uranium/vanadium <br /> mining operation at the Sunday Mine Complex (SMC) in San Miguel County, Colorado. <br /> 1.1 Purpose <br /> This hydrogeologic report was prepared to support regulatory permitting requirements for the <br /> SMC, as administered by the Colorado Division of Mining, Reclamation and Safety (DRMS), <br /> and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM).The DRMS administers the state mining <br /> permit for the SMC and the. BLM administers the project under Federal Land Policy and <br /> Management Act (FLPMA), and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The report is <br /> required under the DRMS to supplement the Environmental Protection Plan, a document <br /> required for a Designated Mining Operation (DMO). The report will also support permitting under <br /> the BLM with regard to an Environmental Assessment and associated Plan of Operations. <br /> However, the report does not specifically address the topics of environmental impact and <br /> mitigation. <br /> 1.2 Site Description <br /> The SMC is located on BLM lands approximately 17 miles southwest of Naturita, Colorado. A <br /> general site location map for the SMC is presented in Figure 1-1. The property consists of <br /> approximately 233 contiguous unpatented mining claims in portions of Sections 18 through 20 <br /> and 30, Township 44 North, Range 17 West, New Mexico Meridian and portions of Sections 10, <br /> 11, 13 through 15 and 22 through 26, Township 44 North, Range 17 West, New Mexico <br /> Principal Meridian (Figure 1-2) (Adkins, 2015). The SMC portals are located on the southern <br /> slope of Big Gypsum Valley and the mine workings extend beneath the ridgeline between Big <br /> Gypsum Valley and Disappointment Valley into the northern slope of Disappointment Valley. It <br /> is noted that the BLM has designated Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) in both <br /> Big Gypsum Valley and in Disappointment Valley. These areas are not within the permitted <br /> boundaries of the mine sites and generally are not directly related to the hydrogeology of the <br /> SMC. <br /> The SMC consists of five existing underground mines within close proximity to one another <br /> (Figure 1-2).
