MMC understands that AMR requested this letter to be used
as part of a blasting plan and vibration analysis that was requested by the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety.
The following assumptions/variables were provided by AMR and Franklin Drilling & Blasting,
Inc. about blasting activities at the Von Doose:
1. All blasting will be underground; no surface blasting is anticipated.
2. Drift dimensions will be 10 feet high, 8 feet wide, with a cumulative length of 1900 feet.
3. Drift rounds will be 8 feet deep comprised of 25 to 40 horizontal holes that will be 1-5/8
inches in diameter.
Based on the assumptions above MMC recommends the following:
4. Amount, type, diameter, and distribution of explosive per hole:
8.25 pounds of Dyno AP (see enclosed technical sheet) underground packaged explosive
per hole; 1-5/8-inch diameter holes; limit of 8 holes per 8 millisecond (ms)delay period.
5. Delay patterns, type of initiators, time of each delay, and pounds of explosive for each
delay:
