Colowyo Coal Company L.P.
I. General
Colowyo Coal Company L.P. (Colowyo), Permit No. C-1981-019, is submitting this application
for Phase I performance bond release. Colowyo is requesting 44.6 acres be Phase I released with
this application. The current bond amount for the Colowyo Mine is $144,941,409.32. Colowyo
currently holds a surety bond (Bond No. 190044301) in the amount of$104,585,015.00. With
this application, Colowyo will be requesting relinquishment of 60% of the base bond held for the
Phase I areas applied for under this application.
II. Summary Information
A. General Location Description
The 44.6 acres requested for Phase I release are located within the West Pit. These areas are
located within Moffat County, Colorado, in Township 3 North, Range 93 West, Township 4N,
Range 93 West, and T4N, Range 94W of the 6th PM. Listed below is a general legal description
of the subject reclaimed areas:

B. Public Notice
Pursuant to the Rules and Regulation of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board published
August 1980, and pursuant to the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act 34-33-101, et
seq., notice is hereby given of the filing of an application for Phase I Bond Release of a portion
of the Colowyo Mine site. The application pertains to the existing Colowyo Coal Mine, Permit
No. C-1981-019, Colowyo Coal Company L.P., 5731 State Highway No. 13, Meeker, Colorado
81641, filed with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (CDRMS), Colorado
Department of Natural Resources, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203,
and approved by the Division on August 14, 2018 (latest Permit Renewal). The Colowyo Mine
is located approximately 28 miles south of Craig, Colorado.
The Phase I bond release areas applied for total 44.6 acres that was backfilled and graded in
2019. The status of the reclamation is consistent with the requirements of the approved
reclamation plan which includes backfill and regrading to the approved post mine topography.
Maps 1 and 2 of the bond release application provides the location of the Phase I bond release
areas. Listed below is a general legal description of these areas:
