Fall 2019 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Southern Panels Mining Area
o
C +t Y
T.
s
Figure 9. Southward view during the fall 2019 field visit of a subsidence crack
located near the wellhead, which appeared following longwall mining beneath
the MVB E8-7 pad between spring and fall 2019.
4.5.3 Location 5
A small slump was observed on the north side of the MVB E8-8 pad during the spring 2019 field
visit (Figure 10). This feature was observed prior to longwall mining activities passing beneath
the area. Some minor exacerbation of the slump was observed during our fall 2019 field visit.
This may have been the result of longwall mining activities that were occurring in the general
vicinity of this location at the time or our visit(Figure 11). The materials that comprised the slump
appear to be soil and colluvium. No subsidence cracks were observed on the pad.
831-032.910 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
