CIVIC CONTINENTAL MATERIALS CORPORATION
Response: CIVIC proposes to use erosion control blankets to stabilize the topsoil.
35c.Tree planting:The response is not adequate. The response indicates tree watering is enhanced
reclamation. The DRMS position is tree watering will significantly reduce the failure rate for planted
trees. If watering is not to be part of the reclamation plan, the reclamation cost estimate should include
a significant failure rate for trees, requiring replanting as much as 100 percent unless CIVIC has evidence
the success rate in this area is higher without watering. Please confirm whether the DRMS should bond
for 100%tree failure or supply the following:
Response: CIVIC proposes to bond for 100%tree failure.
i. What equipment is planned for watering the trees?
Response: not applicable.
ii. How much water is required?
Response: not applicable.
iii.'What is the source of water?.
Response: not applicable.
45. Geotechnical analysis. The DRMS engineering group reviewed the slope stability analyses. Please
respond to the two comments in the attached DRMS memo from Zach Trujillo, dated February 19,2020.
i.Additional clarification on the difference between "mine fill" and "waste rock" materials and the
corresponding strength parameters.
Response: The Pikeview Quarry will be reclaimed using fill material with characteristics of the "waste
rock" material. The "mine fill" material was used in a sensitivity analysis of the slope stability to evaluate
the potential impacts of a different material. These types of sensitivity analyses are common in mine
reclamation projects to help identify limitations with the design.
ii. Which material profile will be used when reclaiming the Pikeview Quarry?
Response: The Pikeview Quarry will be reclaimed using fill material with characteristics of the "waste
rock" material.
Pikeview Quarry Amendment 4, Response to Adequacy
March 2, 2020
4
