PERMIT#:M-1981-256
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:February 5,2020
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Eckberg Pit, an active Yuma County 112c sand and gravel
permit, conducted by Eric Scott of DBMS. DRMS followed Yuma County Road and Bridge representative Don
Marr to the site, and observed the site with them at approximately 1230. This inspection was conducted at the
request of Yuma County so that the County and DRMS could consult on the ongoing reclamation activities
taking place at the site.
Yuma County has approximately 45 acres currently permitted at this location. Mining has been completed at the
site and the County has made an extensive effort to reclaim the previously affected area within the permit
boundary. Additional sloping and contouring has been completed in previously disturbed areas of the site to
enhance long term stability and minimize erosion. (Photos 2-4).
The Division is optimistic that the efforts Yuma County has undertaken, such as the significant slope re-
contouring, elimination of existing erosion channels, and surface water run-on control will result in a much
more stable long term configuration for the site and enhance the chances that the final reclamation will be
successful.
The mining site identification sign was observed at the Eckberg site entrance (Photo 1), and t-post permit
boundary markers were in place. No other issues were observed during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Don Marr
Yuma County
1310 S.Blake St.
Wray,CO 80758
