PERMIT#: M-2011-042
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:February 5,2020
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Yuma County Knodel Pit, a 128 acre 112c sand and gravel pit
with an approved post-mining land use of rangeland. The pit is located approximately 12.5 miles ESE of Idalia
CO. Eric Scott with DRMS accompanied Yuma County representative Don Marr to the site and toured the site
with him. The required identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site (photo 1) and the permit
boundary was marked with T-posts at the corners.
The site was not being mined at the time of the inspection although stockpiles of material were present on-
site in the main pit area. The smaller, northern, disturbed area noted in the previous inspection has been
reclaimed, and is now almost indistinguishable from the surrounding unaffected area. The main pit and
access road (approx. 20 acres) located in the south area of the permit is still un-reclaimed. Mr. Marr indicated
that the County may initiate reclamation of the main pit area when the existing stockpiled material is utilized
and reclamation work is completed on the nearby Eckberg pit.
No other issues or concerns were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Don Marr
Yuma County
1310 S.
