PERMIT#:M2015-049
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:ECS
INSPECTION DATE: February 5,2020
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Yuma County Meeks Pit, a 243 acre 112c sand and gravel pit
with an approved post-mining land use of rangeland. The pit is located approximately 7 miles south of Idalia
CO. Eric Scott with DRMS accompanied Yuma County representative Don Marr to the site and toured the site
with him. The required identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site (photo 1) and the permit
boundary was marked with T-posts at the corners.
The site was not being mined at the time of the inspection although stockpiles of material and topsoil were
present on-site in and adjacent to the main pit area. Approximately 9 acres have been affected at the time of
this inspection. Mining is being conducted according to the approved mining plan, and BMPs were noted in
several locations to prevent sediment from leaving the site during rain events. Overall, the site appeared to
be well-run and maintained and no issues or concerns were noted during this inspection.
