PERMIT#:M-1999-047
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:February 5,2020
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Adamson Brothers Pit, a 110c construction materials operation.
This inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS, no operator representative was present for the
inspection. The current bond posted for this site is $9900. The slopes of the pit have been largely replaced at a
3:1 slope or flatter with the exception of a small area in the NW corner of the site, and there appears to be
sufficient topsoil/growth media stockpiled along the north and south pit boundaries for reclamation. This
material would need to be spread and the entire area seeded to complete reclamation. Only minimal additional
earthwork would be required to complete the reclamation if no additional disturbance is created on site.
A large stockpile of caliche material was present in the center of the pit, which looked recently disturbed, but
there did not seem to be any areas of fresh excavation. Some erosion gullies were observed starting on the re-
sloped pit walls and these will need to be repaired and stabilized. Because no further excavation is possible in
the directions of the re-sloped walls without going outside the permit area, DRMS suggests replacing the topsoil
in those areas and starting the revegetation process to prevent further erosion and speed the final reclamation
process.
Problems observed during the inspection have been identified at the beginning of the report and consist of the
missing permit identification sign and boundary markers. These issues will need to be resolved by the corrective
action dates listed above.
Because the reclamation bond has not been adjusted in quite some time, the Division may also calculate a surety
increase to account for increased costs to the state for the remaining earthwork and revegetation. A surety
increase revision will be sent to the operator under separate cover and the operator will have 60 days from the
date of the surety increase to provide the revised bond amount to the Division.
Inspection Contact Address
Shane Galles
Dry Creek Gulch Farms,-LLC
505A East 8th Ave.
Yuma,CO 80759
